Two new TinyOS 2 Working Groups have been formed: a IEEE 802.15.4
(15.4) Working Group and a ZigBee Working Group.
|
The TinyOS 15.4 Working Group will
- develop and maintain a platform-independent, standard-compliant implementation of the IEEE 802.15.4-2006 MAC,
- make the implementation available on (appropriate) TinyOS 2 platforms and TOSSIM,
- align the MAC interfaces with the next-higher layers in TinyOS 2 (AM, prospective ZigBee NWK, 6lowPAN),
- provide mechanism to integrate enhancements / variants / add-ons to the MAC protocol (e.g. QoS, traffic differentiation mechanisms, frequency agility).
The goals of the TinyOS ZigBee Working Group are:
- Implementing and maintaining a standard-compliant implementation of the ZigBee protocol
- Mesh network model (over non beacon-enabled mode)
- Cluster-Tree network model (over beacon-enabled mode)
- Security Layer features
- Application Layer features
- Providing enhancements/variants/add-ons to the standard protocol
- QoS (e.g. energy-efficiency/throughput) improvement
- Low power routing extension
- Security features
- Fault-tolerance mechanisms (e.g. single-point-of-failure problem in cluster-tree networks)
- Mobility management mechanisms
- Cluster resynchronization and dynamic duty-cycle management
- Assessment/comparison of existing Mesh/Cluster-Tree and proposal
of mixed/alternative network topologies/models
